Tips for Professional Interview Transcription

  • Slowing Down Playback: Set speed to 0.8x or 0.9x. This allows you to type continuously alongside the speaker without needing to pause repeatedly.
  • Identify Speakers: Use brackets to indicate changing speakers (e.g. [Reporter]: and [Subject]:) at the start of dialogue changes.
  • Inaudible Cues: If a word is unclear, insert a timestamp tag like [inaudible 04:12] so you can locate and re-check it later in the timeline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to upload my audio file to a server?

No. The audio file is loaded strictly locally in your browser using a blob URL. It is never uploaded, transferred, or processed on any external server, ensuring absolute confidentiality for your interviews.

How does the auto-rewind feature help?

When you pause the audio to finish typing a sentence, the player will automatically rewind by your selected offset (e.g., 2 seconds) when you resume. This keeps you in the context of the speaker's sentence.
